Hi,
I don't post very often but any help people can give would be appreciated.
I have been given the task of getting my Nan a printer for her new computer. She does not need anything fancy as all she will really be doing is printing from Word and maybe the internet. I don't want to spend too much as it really will not get much use. Can anyone suggest anything suitable under £50 with cheap printer catridges. I have seen some cheap All in one printers but not sure how good value they are.
Thanks in advance.

Does she print colour?
If not, B&W laser printers are usually very economical in terms of cost per page. Several available for less than fifty quid. Something like this maybe:

Comes with a 700 page toner. A replacement 1500 page toner is about £45 sort of range.
Some laser printers have cartridges that can easily be refilled at much lower cost although not sure the above printer is one of those. Might be worth researching which ones you can easily get refills for, which will prove cheaper in the long run. I've got an old Samsung ML-1210 (no longer on sale I think) which is trivial to refill. You just pop out a stopper on the side of the cartridge, pour in the toner and job done.

cheap ink available, best prices for epsom ,older model [c46 on] ideal for older person ,easy to set up just to print in black and save on costs, for all in one brother DPC330C is best on ink prices ,never buy manufact. ink that is very expensive, also most printers have ''trial'' ink installed so you soon have to buy proper cartridges, also never pay postage, all good discount suppliers incl.postage.0

It's not quite within budget, but the £60 Canon iP4500 we bought recently is excellent.0

I would look at the price of the cartridges first.
My old printer for example was a Canon 250. Carts are 99p for B&W, £4 for colour
New one is an Epson DX7400 as was after a scanner too. Original Carts are £22 for a full set from Asda or Staples or £4 each for clones...0 -
Look at Brother all in Ones. ..Cartrdges are very cheap, individual colour tanks as well.0
