Hi,
I came home from work today to find an oil company had delivered 500 ltrs of oil to my home. It was meant for a property a few streets away. I am worried that the delivery Man may come to remove it when I am at work tomorrow and take more oil than He should. What should I do any suggestions please?

Work out a cheap price (price per litre minus 30%?) for the oil delivered and offer the company to pay that much. It will cost them a lot to collect exactly the right amount!0

This un-ordered delivery could be a blessing.
The tank gauge will be showing the 900 litres plus what was already in the tank, so you should be able to work a rough figure for what was already in the tank. I suggest you Ring around your usual list of suppliers TODAY and find the cheapest price for a 900 litre delivery, then contact the supplier and say that is price you are prepared to pay them when your guage shows that you have used up the tanks original level, with the proviso that if heating oil is at a lower cost at that time, then you pay that price - You win both ways.
PS If the delivery man accessed the oil tank with no one at home, with 900 litres costing around £392 I would be a bit worried about the oil tanks security0 -
Have you contacted the oil company yet?
It will be cheaper for them to agree a heavily discounted price with you than to send someone out to collect the mistakenly delivered oil. If you cannot pay for it all at the moment (after all you had not planned to order!) then arrange a schedule of payments, it is their error after all.
Not sure they can just come and take it out of your tank without prior arrangement though.0 -
I rang the company this morning but apparently the boss would like to speak to me himself but was not available. His secretary said He would call to my home and speak to Me but as I am at work this would not be possible. I gave Her my mobile number and asked if He could call so I will try to come to some arrangemnet with them when they call.
Thank you all again:T0
