    I had exactly the same problem as you when we bought our house.

    I wrote 'not at this address' on the post for months - it did not make a blind bit of difference. So I ended up opening any obvious debt collecting type letters and phoned the companies to explain the problem. This successfully stopped any further correspondence being delivered to my address.

    Some letters were threatening that bailiffs would attend the property to seize assets - quite frankly as a woman I did not fancy arguing with them on my own doorstep that the previous owners had gone, so I decided to (rightly or wrongly) nip it in the bud before it got that far.

    To be honest, if someone can't be bothered to either redirect their post or inform companies of their new whereabouts, then I have little sympathy.
