Bt Home Hub software

Bt are sending me one of these. I have read on some articles not to install the supplied software. Will the hub run without it ?

    Yes. The software just installs some BT utilities which aren't really necessary. I'm not using any of the BT software on any of the devices connected to mine.

    Just plug the hub in and connect your computer, either using the Ethernet cable or the wireless utility that comes with your wireless adapter.

    Change the hub settings by going to http://bthomehub.home. All the Hub Manager software does is open this page in a new window.

    If it turns out to be poor can I use my existing router instead. I'm not really interested in wireless? BT Voyager 210

    Yes, it should work although I'm not sure if it's compatible with ADSL Max so you may not get the best available speed. You'll also have problems if you want to use services like Broadband Talk (that's the thing that gets you free evening and weekend calls) and BT Vision.

    You can always disable the wireless on the hub if you don't need it.
