yes, i moved in april to new house,SouthElec said they sent me a bill from apr to july of only 70quid but i can not remember this at all.And this they say was estimated.
So july to oct (when i gave them actual reading) is £303.
I`m hoping part of this big bill is to catch up on underpaying before but without any real reading from back then i dont know. But going on my usage the last week it makes sense,

so now i can let my girlfriend put the heating back on hee hee :rotfl:

EDIT- so is 50kwh a day a reasonable amount ,as bar 1 or 2 others everyone else seems to be less.

I live in a 3 year old house and my average for Oct was 34 kwh and last Oct was 40. I`ve turned the heating down, it`s not on for as many hours and I have cut the amount of time the water is on my half. House isn`t as warm as I would like it and I still have more than enough hot water. I don`t think I`ll last much longer with the penny pinching as I`ve woken up in the night cold!

Well i checked my meter and its in cubic feet. Really not happy : (

Its costing me a fortune and i'm not even using it,

There must be something wrong with my meter if people are maxing out in the winter at 21 units, as i said above i used 20 units last week, i think i probably had the heating on for about 5 hours last week, probably about 2 hours on hot water, nothing else is on gas, and i use electric to heat the water at other times, i though originally this was more expensive than gas but with this setup its miles cheaper.

I assume this isnt normal, if i had my heating on a programme heating & water for a few hours every day i think it would easily be over £100 a week on gas which is just wrong

is there any advice out there, do you think its my meter or my boiler or what ?

Hi mgirl, just have gas central heating and last week was on 3 hrs a day every day. Cost, at Ebico prices £9.17 including vat......so 43pence an hour.
However not precise figures as doing it manually, once the winter sets in, will be 3 hrs a day....I hope.

    Aceades,

Just the four large ones - they'll be the whole units, the '00s of cubic feet. The smaller two are just fractions of a unit.

(Are the smaller digits not coloured red?)

    I suspect you're spending £10 or £1, not £100!

Note that with your list of readings, you were using between less than a half and 3 units per week - ie 16 to 99 kWh.

Thats soem good news, i have never had gas before so not familiar but i just looked on the british gas website (i am with them for gas) and i submitted reading whihc only allowed 4 numbers,

So it looks like im ok after all, if my calcs are correct i have actually used less than £7 since i moved in,

I think i might have the heating on tonight :)
