I think it's also because many associate rememberance with the 11th, rather than the week before.

Jonothan and Russell such a bonus to watching the festival for me, been listening to them both today. Being the emotional softy I am I have spent my time watching the festival with tears in my eyes.

I'm thinking about taking the boys to the parade tomorrow but so unsure how they would cope with it.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • If anyone lives in London, Ben Shepherd is hosting the service on Tuesday from 9.45am with readings by John Hurt, songs from Blake, Hayley Westenra, Rolf Harris and Fron Choir. Wish I wasn't so far away coz being off sick as I am, I would love to be there.

    evening

its saturday evening and I thought I was having a good day after spending 5 hours on my poor feet shopping for things for carrie van, that was until I came in! Nothing was right or good enough for OH so I'm basically on a real downer now, I spent £150 onstuff I've told him he can take back. I know its silly but I cant help it, I spend so much time doing everything for everyone in this house and its till not bl00dy good enough. I go out maybe twice a year at Christmas and have even cancelled one of those this year as OH is working. And DD was supposed to tidy her room while I was out so she could have her friend over tomorrow but she doesnt look like she's spent 5 mins in there let alone 5 hours. Still at least Ruth stayed in the X factor, she's my favourite.

    Sorry rant over

Apologies for not replying to the posts I have scanned them and I know others have far bigger probs than mine so hugs to all those who need them.
Tomorrow IS another day and I will be flying, I have to, I have a weeks worth of washing to do, most of the weeks flying, roasts to cook, baking to do, trip back into town to get money back I was overcharged today, friends to have round (maybe) and I was going over to the caravan place to measure things up see what was there etc but I'm not going to do an hour and a half round trip to get it all wrong again.

Will see you all tomorrow in a better frame of mind
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
  • Lil_me - I don't know why I watch it, I'm an emotional wreck by the time it finishes.

Kaz - big hugs to you. "It's a lovely day tomorrow, tomorrow is a lovely day" Hope things look brighter in the morning.

    Night all x

Kaz.. have you considered driving up here for a day out?? big big hugs.. As for OH.. well is anything ever right for any of them?? Don't give up on what YOU want.. maybe you should take more than twice a year see how he deals with things then.. I'm all up for experimentation ;).. So, DD cannot have her friend stay over tomorrow then.. her loss.. if she can't be bothered to make any effort why should you be a door mat and let her do what she wants.. she needs to know the boundaries.. it seems harsh at the time and it is a thankless task but she needs to realise life has consequences. Don't let the lot of them get you down.. get out for a bit.. go to the cinema, off for a drink.. just don't sit there simmering.. do something FOR YOU!!!!!!!! it is on the list.. ;) My door is always open if you cope with a couple of hours drive!

kaz ((hugs)) with my complete sympathy and empathy for the way you feel, I must admit I have given up now because it never changes here, I just make sure I do things to make sure I can do what is important for me like going away (so spending hours trailing around for caravan stuff) unfortunately I don't get the nights out with friends etc but mine unfortunately works weekends every week. Getting everything together for your first trip is a lot of work, I remember it well, but once that's done it's done. Can you not phone the place up and ask what is included? I could give you a list of what you will definately need for your first weekend away I think and you could tick it off? Mine had nothing with it at all which was maybe easier as I had to start from scratch. Hope things are better for you in the morning x

PF I am the same, I always end up the same, I used to manage to keep it together through the parade when I was in the air cadets but used to always have a walk and a darn good cry afterwards. I think watching the festival, seeing those who have lost the ones they love, the pride in fellow human beings, oh I am an emotional person aren't I :o Discussed with DP about taking the boys tomorrow, don't think it's a good idea, will watch on TV instead I think.

Summermoon well done! Moving is stressful so getting through it with your hair attatched etc is always a bonus.

I am going through writing stuff about DS2 at the mo for his review next week, never a nice thing to do as a lot of it has to be about the negative bits to go through and make sure he's getting support with.

right, I'm off to drink a cup of rooiboos and go to bed. Bed got remade earlier apart from duvet cover (we ran out of time before harry potter came on tv!). Hoping to finish my list tomorrow, have done a good chunk today so am quite pleased. No cooking tomorrow as we're out for a curry in the evening.

    Night all xx
