Ok have you got the socket plugged in the correct hole.
Are you running XP
Are you using Media Player 10
Have you recently installed anything
Have you tried restarting the PC, If not try that first.
Are any of the drivers corrupt.0 -
by socket I assume you mean speakers?? if so I am currently on laptop with built in speakers
using xp
media player 10
tried restarting
recently installed "avery design" but can't remember if I've played music since.the audio problem started last night
I don't know how to check for any drivers being corrupt0 -
Ok check the device drivers then
Right Click My Computer, then properties, then hardware Tab then Device manager
are there any red or yellow exlamaition marks there?
If yes it means the audio driver needs to be reinstalled. make a note of the audio device whilst there....
Or post the make and model of your PC0 -
No exclamations there, not sure where it says which audio device I have.I am currently using an IBM Thinkpad R50e0

Try a hardware test. got a microphone handy?
Right click speaker icon, choose Adjust Audio Properties, Voice Tab, Test Hardware.0 -
I had to go back to an earlier restore point on mine to sort it out, never did work out what it was ??Ex forum ambassador

no sorry we don't have a microphone and I'm unsure of where you mean for the speaker icon (is it still in device manager).I have just tried some external usb speakers that I know work but no joy there either0

Speaker Icon is in the System Try Nr the PCs clock, left click to see
if its muted or turned down before doing the above in post 60 -
If you cant see the speaker icon in the tray goto control panel sounds and audio devices.
Check its not muted and volume is up full
Check the audio and make sure the devices are selected correctly
Then on the volume tab click advanced and see if anything seems a miss there2008 Wins Jan Jimi Hendrix Live at Monterey: The Definitive Edition on HD DVD £12.98, £10 amazon voucher, £10 amazon voucher, £10 amazon voucher,£500 love2shop voucher, £10 amazon voucher, dvd and chocolate £8.12, Portable dvd player + town called eureka boxset £126Total £687.100 -
