hello
I am lookin got sell most of my cd collection. They're all on my ipod now and are just sitting taking up space. I do buy from ebay, but cannot register, as I don't have a house phone ( which according to ebay website, you need a house phone) Is there any way around this, or can anyone suggest a better place to sell cd's?
Thanks very much

You can't sell Cds if you keep a copy on an IPOD..just a technicality there!
For sales once your remove them from your Ipid try Amazon or Play. There is a long thread about selling on Amazon that I will bump for you.
However the landline number is only required for seller verification so is there any landline phone you can get access to for a short period? Once you register as a seller you can then add a mobile number instead. When my son registered he waited until he came home from uni, entered the home number got verified removed the number and put his mobile in and all is now well.
I just remembered there is a thread on the 'up your income' board about selling on Magpie..that might be worth a look.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No... I mean i physically have about 100 actual cds. I have copied the music onto ipod, so now have no use for the actual cd, they are just taking up space. If you have a link that would be great. thanks0

That;s what's illegal, you can't copy an album and then sell it on. Unless you hold the CD you have copied the music from you are technically in breach of the copyright rules. Unless you have downloaded the music seperately from Itunes and paid again for a digital copy of course.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Soolin is right, you can only sell the albums if you delete them from your mp3 player, it`s just the same as copying a brand new dvd and selling the original. You can have back ups, ie. whats on your mp3 player, but you must also have the original to use the

Oh thanks. I didn't know that. So if I delete said cd's from ipod then I can sell them?0

I generally check both Amazon and Play.com and list on either or both depending on how much other sellers are offering them for.
If you do list on both, remember to close the listing on the other when it sells (you could in theory get sales from both at the same time - nice problem to have, but not happened to me yet - so you would need to refund one of them).
Neither charge a listing fee - Amazon will give you a postage credit, where as with Play your listing price needs to include postage.0 -
If anyone can suggest sensible storage for hundreds of CDs (all on MY ipod) I'm am totally in the market
I'm thinking a nice storage box to stick in the loft, an appropriate size for CDs, with room for lotsMy TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I sell mine on Play, I have been getting about £2.50 each after fees and posting the CD. Much better than ebay and it is free to list0

I would not worry about the 'technically it is illegal' business0 -

I tend to sell more on Amazon these days and have gone away from eBay for most of my sales!
I think it depends on what you are asking and how many of the same item are being sold, I tend to think that Amazon take a lot higher fee, but I have never actually worked out there prices compared to eBay, especially when you had to pay higher listing fees (not now) and then final selling fee, plus PayPal fees, on Amazon it costs you nothing to list and it stay on for a very long time.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0
