    What????????? £20 for a bottle of Bell's Whisky????!!! That's immensely expensive!!!!

A superb meal in a top quality restaurant for £3?????? Oh don't be ridiculous!!!! The very few top quality restauarants in Turkey are more expensive than some of those in England!! AND the wine's awful!!!

As for Turkish property, I heard it was hard to shift when people had lots of dosh splashing about, and reselling was nigh impossible, so goodness knows what it's like now - especially now that Turkey has a recession looming too!:o

I've heard that buying a property in Turkey is akin to buying a boat or a car - they always DEPRECIATE!

I beg to differ. The White Dolphin (now changed into a botique hotel) was a very fine restaurant on a cliff above Olu Deniz.
So good that Prince Charles, President Clinton & Tina Turner have eaten there.
    DH & I had a seafood starters & a lobster main course & mineral water for £60.
Do you think you could eat lobster for two in that sort of restaurant in the uk:rolleyes:

You don't really believe what a local newspaper tells you - do you?:rotfl:

It's called hype in case you didn't know.:p

Anyway, if that area is so beautiful and delicious why haven't all these stars and royalty bought a residence there??:rotfl: :rotfl:

I'd guess they were just passing by on a yacht and popped in for a bite to eat - if indeed they did! Any photos of these celeb visits?

And if this restaurant was so superb why has it closed down??

Frommers is NOT a local newspaper:rolleyes:

I'm guessing you don't travel much huh?

Frommers is the HOLY GRAIL of travel, anyone who goes anywhere should read it.

Its the biggest & best guild to hotels & restaurants in the world.

Its not local to Turkey:rotfl: I believe its HQ is New York.

You've made yourself look very silly dismissing Frommers as a Turkish local paper:rotfl: :rotfl:

Its been made into a top of the range very small & very exclusive boutique hotel of 8 luxury suites.

The restaurant itself has moved, to a nearby island he bought to build it on, hes going to run a jetfoil out to it for diners.
Hes made a few bob out of it;)

Also owns the Oyster Residence, you won't find that in Thompson or First Choice either, but if you've ever gone a little upmarket & booked with Sovereign, its in there:D
  • Let's hope he didn't bribe a Turkish politician like this one did!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

No wonder all the houses in Turkey are crumbling to bits when anyone can be bought!

Oh, just to let you know Mrs Eee, I've been all over the world. More than once. I know exactly what I'm talking about.:p

I think you can do as much research as you like and still get ripped off in Turkey.

Tickledpink - I am south west of TURKEY and its hasnt hardly rained AT ALL so far this winter!! In fact Ive been sunbathing New Years Day and TODAY!! Last winter was a fairly wet one but not all winters are like this!! Get your facts straight!!! I have sorted out the damp problem in my apartment but was just illustrating the fact that you can get damp out here but houses in UK also get these problems. Have you even been to Turkey Im guessing the answer to that is a big fat NO. Even if you have Turkey is a vast country and all parts of it are very different and have very different weather conditions.

Ive repped here before and believe me if you have ever seen this side of tourism you would know what I mean about tourists leaving their brains on the plane and heat getting to them!!! They believe ANYTHING and DONT QUESTION anything! Im sorry that your not well travelled maybe you should get out a bit more!!
  • MrsE,

I've travelled all over Turkey:rotfl: (and sailed along the coastline too) I've also eaten in the White Dolphin (about 4 times - but I forgot!!).

    And get this!!

MY picture was on the White Dolphin website!!!!!!!!!!!:p :p:p:p

My OH reminded me last night. I'd forgotten all about it!!!:j

But since he reminded me I remember eating a tough old lobster there once (it must have been about 80-years-old!). The lobster tank was set in the middle of the open-air restauarant just as you were about to walk up the steps into the main restauarant.

But the rest of the food was very good. And we sat on lovely wooden bench seats with plump blue cusions overlooking Oludeniz. Shame the mountain obscured the setting sun though!

I'll fish out a picture soon to show you!:D

Sorry to upset you and all that................you sound a bit annoyed to think I've been all over the world. Hope it doesn't ruin your New Year!!:p

    Toodle pip!:j
