TV and Video senders - any good?

Does anyone know whether these gadgets really work? I'm putting a TV into our kitchen with no easy way of installing an aerial cable. The signal will probably be too weak to use a set top aerial. The lounge TV is not very far away, might a Sender work?

Which makes are best?

Many thanks.

Unfortunately, senders usually only send Scart signals (I say usually because I have never seen one which sends RF signals, but it is technically possible one may exist somewhere).

Because of this, the sender would only send the ouput from one device, ie. a VCR or Sky box. They do this very well though.
The signal will probably be too weak to use a set top aerial.
Why do you say this - do you have a particularly bad signal in your area or something? Or are you thinking of digital TV?

Personally, I have used indoor aerials with normal TV and with freeview without any problems :rudolf:
  • I have had the ferguson sender just over a year paid £25 for it,the picture is great from sky and the dvd recorder no wires trailing all over, it even changes sky channels via the sender all you need is a spare scart socket and power socket for the sender as it needs its own power, hope this helps.

My mate just bought a Digi Sender DG200 and there are a few problems with it
but the picture is viewable and sound is legible not fantastic but usable.
  • One point to note.. the senders use the same frequency as wireless cards in laptops/PC's. So if you have one of these, you may get interference when you use both at the same time..
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

Good point - I've heard that before. You can usually change the signal though, and I've got both and never had any problems, so it's by no means something which everyone suffers...

I have a Gigavideo70 which i have found to be excellent. I use wireless internet which doesn't conflict and also a digital baby monitor witout any problems.

The reason i went for the gigavideo is it also has a coax output (as well as rf/scart) so you an use it with older style tv's too.

Excellent Hillfly - a video sender which sends aerial signals - and to think I thought they didn't exist. :snow_laug

Hope i haven't misled anyone: the output receiver allows you to use Co-ax but i don't think there is an input for the co-ax on the sender unit. I'll double check this tonight when i get home. Think you must have a scart input.

Theoretically you could send the signal to your pc. Although thisi s not a setup i have ever tried or considered.
