Don't forgot it's 7% AER which is 6.82% Gross for the 3 months.

As i've said before they really should make that a little clearer.
Not sure who/what you're replying to, but they couldn't make it any clearer than this could they?...

  • Do I open this account through my halifax account?

I deposited a cheque today and the balance on my account shows it but the cheque isnt cleared. I tried to open a 7% account but it doesnt let me. Could it be because the cheque isnt cleared?

Also how long does it take from my money to leave my Lloyds account? am asking this so that i dont have to have 100k in my current account earning no interest

Does post #13 provide the answer?

The cheque won't clear until Thursday/Friday (and possibly even next week due to the size...if it's the £100K you refer to below?).

The cheque value will be debited from LTSB on Wednesday, and start earning a teeny bit of interest at Halifax until it's cleared and you can move it into the 7% account...if indeed it's still available by then?
  • I am getting this:

Fixed rate Web Saver application ineligible
Unfortunately you cannot continue with this fixed Web Saver application for one or more of the following reasons:
    • You do not meet our age requirements
    • You already hold the maximum number of variable or fixed rate Web Saver accounts we allow
    • You do not currently hold a variable Web Saver account (This is a requirement, as on maturity one of the options is to roll over funds into your variable rate WebSaver)
    • You have insufficient funds in your account to fund the new Fixed Web Saver (Min £500)
I have a variable rate web-saver where available balance is more than £500, this is the only saver account I have with Halifax and obviously older than 11 ... any clues ? :-/

Possibly I wasted my time/money with my move. I lost 2 days of interest for the 100k plus the 7% account will be gone by then which was the reason i went to halifax. Am only left with the 9 month 6.5% option but as another poster says i have been unable to open a fixed rate term. I keep getting the same error that i dont meet some requirements. My current halifax account earns 4.5% per year.
