Yep. And if I remember rightly last time I sent something Special on a Friday they mentioned it not being guaranteed delivery for Monday anymore.

No it should be guaranteed by Monday if you post by close of business on Friday. (But Special Delivery excludes Saturday for Banks and other companies, see on the Royal Mail website for details).

I've done this before very recently (posted Fri, to arrive Monday), and on the PO receipt the guaranteed delivery date is listed as the following Monday, and it's usually been delivered before midday on the Monday when checking the code online at: http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/track?catId=22700601&gear=authentication

It's £4.60 for a letter special delivery - I don't know where they make their money

I'm hoping it will get there if I go to the main Post Office early tomorrow. Unfortunately, I cannot send an original bank statement since it is a Cahoot account, so there will be a number of hurdles.

Am I definitely correct in saying that even Special Delivery on Saturday won't guarantee Monday delivery though ? - with Saturday not being a weekday ?

    Thanks

I am thinking of hand delivering my application this weekend (missed the post today). Anyone think this may be possible at the London address (surely there should be letter box or something)?

I rang and asked if I could hand deliver it tomorrow and they said they are not open to the general public like a normal bank but I could hand it in. As I am going into London for the Lord Mayor's Show this works well for me.

I also said I would be enclosing cheques from two different banks which they said was fine as long as I enclosed a statement from one of them.

I was asked by the PO counter clerk if I wanted to pay an extra £2 (totalling £6.60), to guarantee that it arrives next day. I did mention it being a Saturday, but she assured me that it would arrive next day as a result of the extra £2. Have just had a look on Royal Mail website and found this:

    Guaranteed Saturday Delivery
If you’re a Post Office® or meter customer, ask at your local Post Office® about our new Guaranteed Saturday Delivery, available for just £2 extra per item. If you’re a Royal Mail Account customer, contact your Account team to find out more about this service and its costs.

I agree, but unfortunately the Royal Mail Website has a clause about Banks re Saturday Special Delivery here:

"Available for a small surcharge (£2 extra per item) from Post Offices throughout the UK. Mail an item on a Friday and we can guarantee next day delivery even though it’s a Saturday. Items sent to the following business types are excluded from the Saturday Guarantee: Banks, Building Societies, Travel Agents, Jewellers and Post Office Branches."

    Hope you were lucky anyway!

There won't be anybody to sign for the post on Saturday so they can't deliver it!

I don't get a statment either with online banking, but person I spoke to said that it would be ok to send a paying in slip instead.
