AOL Talk

I have been offered free calls for a year and a little bit cheaper broadband £12.99 per month ( from £14.99).

Apart from a 12 month contract it seems like a good deal because my exchange is non LLU.

I know I still have to pay BT rental. Are there any other downsides? I suppose BT will want to charge me for caller display if I change!

  • Ummm, I was offered aol talk and broadband for £4.99 for the first 3 months and £12.99 thereafter. I took it but never received the broadband stuff so will be cancelling.

Yes, BT charge about £1.60 for caller display. I'm not sure of the different rates for phoning mobiles and 0845 numbers(probably worth checking) but it has all been working very well. BT, once I got through, were great at changing me from Option 3 to Option1.

I think it is a good deal. (Although I'm now getting broadband from o2 for £7.50 a month .. and will have to switch back to option3 with BT)

I have got caller display for free with BT providing I make at least two calls a month with them. If AOL take over the calls will I be able to make any calls via BT. I thought I read somewhere if you dial 1280 before the number dialed the call is charged by BT?

The rates charged by AOL for mobiles and non-geographical numbers are not to bad. I try to us saynoto0870 as much as possible!

AOL may start blocking 1280 calls see: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1072413
Their sister company Talk Talk has already started to do so.

Many thanks for the link. I see someone asked about AOL but never got an answer.

I think this poster was joking ;)
