would it work in France?

Options
Hi there,
as there is always sbdy with answers on this board here is another question...

I want to give my old phone to my mother who lives in France, she's on payg with SFR . My phone was also a PAYG but with Vodafone.. Do you think it will work overthere if we put her sim card in my old phone? or do i need to do something here ie unlock or else. (sorry i'm not very technical)
I'm now on contract so i've updated and it's a pity as my mum's phone is one of those early ones....very basic.
thanks in advance for your help.

Chances are the phone will be unlocked as it was purchased as a PAYG phone. Could you try to put in a non Vodafone Sim into the phone to see if it works? If it doesn't, then the phone will need to be unlocked.

 Sorry but the chances are that the PAYG phone will be locked.

If you posted the make and model, members may be able to advise, as some phones are much easier to unlock than others. Once unlocked it will work fine in France.

  • If you are on Vodafone and go out there, try to stay on SFR, it gives the best rates. I've recently been out there for a week and the charges aren't brilliant but better than most.
