Is it all over yet?

Well, no banks have failed in the last week. Sachs-gate has replaced "downturn" on the news. Peston has had his 15 mins of fame (though I think he looks like a plastic muppet with a wig). I didn't need to stock up on beans and flour. I suppose I should continue to stay in renting for a few months until the sellers stop being in denial. My money will be rescued on Monday.
Is it over, then? Is it now a case of wait and see? I feel all calm for the first time in a couple of months

No this is just the end of the beginning.

Banks have felt the pain - now it's time for the rest of the economy to feel it.

A round of applause to Jonathan Woss and Russell Brand for finally giving us a different headline for a few days - I was getting bored to tears by only hearing about the credit crunch every time I turned the news on!

domcastro, perhaps you are mistaking this refreshing change of headline with the end of doom and gloom?

Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • If you think about it though I think the Wossy headlines were about more than just a few silly phone calls; they tie in with the current doom and gloom.

I think there has been a marked change in the national mood recently and people are starting to get rather annoyed with people they perceive to be overpaid; Mr Ross being one of them.

An interesting perspective. Extremely sad if its true though. Its irksome that people would look at the likes of Jonathan Ross and begrudge him his fortune. Like THEY wouldn't turn down 6-figure X 6 salary. People who get upset by this need to have a word with themselves I think.

That said, top footballers' salaries are another story altogether...

I wouldn't care so much if his £6 millions a year salary wasn't coming from the licence fee.
£139.50 a year is a lot of money for some people and I don't see the value for money at that price.

The "interesting" bit is over - now it's just the heart wrenching awful bit of watching millions lose their jobs and homes:o

We should all feel extremely sorry for Mr Ross, his misunderstood little prank means he has lost £1.5M in annual salary and will have to survive on only £5M a year. Perhaps the good people on these forums can offer some advice as to how he can manage on such a small income.

I'd turn down 6 million, I reckon I could just about scrape by on 1 milion a year and give the rest to cancer research.

I'll take it you dont like football?
