Hi All
I recently had my computer reformatted after a virus got into the system.
I sent it off to a computer guy to fix and got it back yesterday - its working fine etc but the only problem is its not recognising my sound card (nothing plays with sound) although there was one in the computer when I first got it and it was working fine before i gave it to the fixers.
Does anyone have any ideas how i can get it working again???
Ive been into device manager etc and there is a yellow exclamation mark next to one thing but ive no idea how/why/what to do
PLEASE!

You may need to download a new driver from the manufacturers site for the motherboard and soundcard.
belarc.com have a tool that'll sniff around and tell you what board you have and what needs updating.
Do the MB first and then try to uninstall and reinstall the card.0 -

Assuming you have XP
Easiest thing is to goto MICROSOFT UPDATES and choose CUSTOM
then the sound driver should be under the HARDWARE updates
If you struggle then yes, that link should be ok ~ use the XP link:idea:0 -
I just tried donwloading the top link for windows XP and it crashed my computer - any other ideas??Time to find me again0

Did you try microsoft updates?
Other idea is goto the exclamation mark, right click and UPDATE DRIVER (Usually scans the net and finds it):idea:0 -
microsoft updates
(the shield in the bottom right corner of screen) had nothing about hardware updates in it but then again im not very computer savvy so have no idea if thats the right place or not
I tried the update driver through device manager and it didnt work. Should I have tried a different site on the realtek page?? as i clicked on site 1Time to find me again0 -
