A friend who lives abroad asked me to order something online from Next Directory. I managed to do this but I had to register and agree to being
sent a copy of the Next Directory at a cost of £3.50. If I didn't agree I
couldn't make the order.
I dont shop in Next so I dont want the directory.
Does anyone know if I can just send it back?
Thanks. :xmassign:

I ordered something from Next online and objected to having to open an account with them and buy a catalogue (BUY a catalogue - how ridiculous  ).
Anyway, I phoned them up to place the order instead, which meant I could just pay on my credit card and not buy the catalogue.
I would ring them and tell them you don't want it. Here's a free phone number for their customer services: 0800 731 4567.

It makes sense to me. Catalogues have to be paid for by someone; if the company (NEXT) swallows the cost it passes it on to the customer by increasing the price of the goods they sell. Also, (and I'm sure NEXT haven't thought of this, though if they did they'd make a song and dance about it) if customers pay for catalogues they collect fewer and therefore use less of the world's limited resources.
However, I do disagree with being almost forced to buy a catalogue.0 -
Ive ordered online and havent got a catalogue or been charge for one.
Went in the other day and they are charging 50p for the xmas brocure !!!!!! !!0 -
Hello, I think it was the Spring catalogue I had to agree to receive.
I have never been forced to buy a catalogue by any other company,
how are Next getting away with this? :mad:0 -
That is Next's policy and their perogative. If you don;t like it then don;t pay for it .. go to their stores (there is usually one there that you can browse for free (similar to Argos)) or shop online. They used to give you the money back on your first order - don't know if they still do this.
Personally I think it is a responsible policy for reasnos given by others above - and wish more catalogue companies would do the same - I wonder how many people have half-a-dozen mail order catalogues in their house (for no other reason than they like to look at pictures). Given the cost of production, printing, raw materials and postage £3.50 is a very small price to pay.

No, £3 .50 is a very high price to to pay if you have already travelled eight miles to the shop, only to find the item is out of stock. The only way to order it was online. Do you still think this is fair?
This might be Next's perogative, try telling that to a friend, who wants a top.
Why should I, doing a favour for a friend, have to buy a catalogue that I dont give a flyer about?
Save a tree, don't sent out compulsory catalogues. :xmassign:0 -
deduct the £3.50 off your 1st order from the catalogue.
Also, in defence of NEXT, they do say that of you don't want the catalogue, you can tell them.2014 Target;

I never understand this logic... Next operate in a competitive market, they cannot merely add the cost on to prices, this would result in fewer sales. Charging for their catalogues adds to their profit. How many other businesses get away with this ? Its effectively charging people to enter your shop, and its disgraceful that people just lay down and accept it.
its about time Next were forced to cease this annoying practice, but until their customers tell them to stop it by cancelling the catalogue (as I have) they will continue to do it
scene from Next boardroom "can you believe it ? our customers are still buying our catalogue, the mugs..."am I missing something ??0
