Bumping Threads

Options
Hi guys

Please don't bump threads. If there's a duplicate the BGs will get to it in time or, if they haven't within a couple of days, feel free to pop them a polite PM just letting them know in case they haven't seen it.

Thanks!

Andrea :)

Andrea, why are people allowed to bump other threads in other areas of the forum then, or is this going to stop too. Nevermind using the 'thanks' button to thank someone for bumping said topic...

but what if an offer is really good, you can see it sliding down the list... do you reply with a rubbish comment or make a whole new thread with the same offer, or be honest and say your "bumping" the thread as the offer is really good and you want others to know about it,

    Not sure:confused:

Write a post instead of "Bump" ... example:- "Wow this is a great thread, I nearly missed it, thanks to the OP." :D
  • Hi lauzjp

At the moment it's just this board and the Comps board where Martin asked people a few years ago not to bump up because it disrupts the boards. Until now that's not been included in the official rules but we're working on an update and re-write and it's one of the things we'll be looking at.

On a more general note, we're starting to see bumping being used in a quietly nasty way and obviously that's exactly what we don't want.

    Andrea :)

According to Andreas post I read it as duplicating a thread, which to my mind is a completely different thing. To bump a thread to my mind is merely posting something on a thread just to get it to the top of page one, as for nasty bumping, well the mind boggles.

It just means if you see an offer has been duplicated pm the bg with the links to the old thread and the new thread that needs merging rather than finding the old thread and writing bump on it. This was causing the front page to be full with bumped threads. It meant that the board was hard to navigate to find new freebie offers.

More can be read in the guide to the freebies thread, see the link in my signature:D.

Hope this clears it up a bit. :)
