A bright and sunny (but slightly chilly!) Wednesday here - (I'm trying to force myself into a good mood!).
Still no bids on my ebay stuff, even though there's ridiculously low starting prices - I really hope it sells!
I've also worked out that, if I make no further money on Amazon or ebay from now until pay day, we'll be 86p overdrawn!!! 86p!!! If that's the case, I'm going to raid the penny jar and pay it all in in coppers just so we're not overdrawn - it's the principle of the thing!!! Hopefully I'll have another Amazon or ebay sale though and won't need to resort to extreme measures!
We will need a bit of shopping before pay day too, but we have £25 worth of points on our nectar card, so we're going to use those in sainsburys when we need to buy some groceries, avoiding spending any more cash and being any further overdrawn. Hopefully we won't need any more petrol for the next two weeks, we filled up last night and that usually lasts 10 days or so, but we'll MAKE it last 2 weeks!0 -
Damn double post!0

Well I've listed another 3 things on Amazon tonight and 5 more items on ebay. I haven't used ebay in a while as I had a really bad run in with Paypal a while ago. They sided with a dishonest buyer back in the summer as it seems pretty impossible to win a dispute as the seller, even though I had lots of proof on my side. Even their call centre staff agreed with me! It was really stressful and upsetting and resulted in me losing, what was to us, quite a bit of money. It really put me off using them, but as I have no other viable option at the moment, I guess I just have to grin and bare it until, hopefully, these items are sold!0

I find it's a real hit and miss with that thing - sometimes casseroles and stews are so tasteless in it. We did cook a joint of lamb in it a little while ago though and that was stunning! Shame they don't all go so well as that...

Thanks Julie - I'll try that, it sounds like a good idea.
It didn't turn out too bad this time; can't say I was too keen, but hubby ate his quick enough and the half that was left is now in the freezer to be used at a later date :-)0 -
Urgh. Bit of a tough day today. Work has been particularly testing, to the point where I drove home for an hour at lunch time as I had to get out of here before I had a row with someone - not very DFW of me I know, using petrol like that but I had to get out! I hate this job so much, I really do, it makes me so unhappy.
I got home to find a statement from Barclaycard even though I cancelled the card 2 months ago, so had to phone them up and complain and point out once again that the card has been cancelled! Also chased NEXT for the second time to pick up a return that has been sat on our floor for over a week now, :mad:plus the usual smattering of junk mail! No word from the Estate agents yet... or the sofa company... all I can say is thank goodness it's Friday tomorrow! We also have £4.53 in the bank until payday (urm, 12 days away!).
I hope everyone is having a better day than me! :rotfl:0 -
Not a particularly eventful DFW day today, I've done a survey and sold a couple of items on the notice board at work for £15 which will go in a pot towards some of the costs we're inevitably going to have to pay if we move house. A few of my ebay items end in the last 24 hours so I shall be keeping an eye on those and hope they get a few more bids than at present. I will be really disappointed if my wedding dress goes for the price it's currently at, but then I guess it's money in the bank that I didn't have before and the dress is out of the way. Would cost me more than that to get it professionally cleaned!
Resisted the strong temptation to pop put and pick up something more exciting for lunch today. I was being encouraged by not so DFW colleagues but I resisted and ate the more boring lunch I'd bought in with me.
Well there's a little bit more money in the bank today thanks to some of my Amazon payments gradually trickling over in dribs and drabs. My, they take ages to turn up! I also have a payment from some survey points which is taking an age to show in my paypal account.
It's looking a bit more promising with the house purchase now. Everything should be done in 4 days time so I'm keeping everything crossed, and then crossed again, it all works out the way we'd like! Will have to pay out for a few things then but will deal with that when we come to it, and the wages + a little bit of our savings should hopefully cover it. The rest we can do when we have the money!0 -
Hi debtfreesomeday
Well, your amazon sales seem to be going well, any more in the last couple of days?
So this house move....do you find out for definate in four days whether it's gone through? Are you moving far away from where you moving? Up-sizing? Sorry for being so blooming nosy!
Cheers for the advice reagarding the weeks after I get married! However I think it's all ready sorted....crazy as it sounds, three weeks after the wedding I start my full time MA course at a local Uni! I think that is going to take away any feeling of flat-ness! Its a scary thought going back to studying having only one income, but we should muddle through with various grants etc. And it will be very exciting having a new name when I register etc!:rotfl: The weirdest thing however is that I will be a married 'mature student' with a mortgage! It will certainly be very different from when I first went to uni!
Sorry to hi-jack your thread there!
Have a wonderful weekend, mine will be much quieter after last week's partying!
xxxxJoint debt with OH at LBM Sept 08 (excluding mortgage & student loan) - £34,069
Getting married 05/09/09
To lose for the big day (lb) 2/510 -
You're a very welcome hi-jacker! No - no more Amazon sales for a few days now but at least we've cleared quite a few books and a couple of dvds from our massive stockpile! My OH hates getting rid of books, as do I if they're prized possessions, but I've bribed him with the 'well, if you don't get rid of the ones you don't want any more, you won't have space for new ones' line. Worked a treat! :rotfl:
House move - contracts are signed in 4 days  hopefully! We're actually moving REALLY close to where we live now - it's in the same cul de sac! just a bigger house! It has a garage and is detached too, so we'll have quite a bit more space. Garden isn't as great but hey, ca't have it all! We just have to sell ours then (it's a long, complicated story, but lets just say I have the most amazing parents who have helped us with our house no end, meaning we didn't have to sell this one first). I hope it sells really quickly as it's a wonderful house and I will be sad when we leave it. I don't like to think of it being empty and us being just down the road! I'm a sentimental idiot, I know!
Plus we have to insure both...
Wow, you certainly do have a challenge planned after the wedding! What course are you doing? (I'm being nosey now!) I'd love to go back to uni and maybe do something completely different to what I do now, but, as you said, money is a major issue in that one. It sounds very exciting though - I remember the mature students when I was at uni, they were all ageing hippies with long grey hair and smelt of moth balls! Show them how it's done - be a glamorous mature newlywed student!
Have a fab weekend too - mine will involve much cleaning and sorting out of "stuff"! xx0
