Cheap catfood dilemma

Now, I know we're talking about cats here (lol) but the behavioural specialist told me what gets put in many wet foods (ie animal derivatives). This is something she has researched in much depth as a 'pet project' (pardon the pun) and, it ain't pretty. One of the things was animal hair. Another was ground up hooves.
Ermmmm ... I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when cats kill and eat wild prey such as birds and mice, they do happen to eat the whole animal which includes the feathers, hair, bones, teeth, guts ... the lot!!!!
Where on earth do people get off on thinking animals in the wild have a gourmet style steak dinner?? :rotfl:
Any pet food that doesn't include this sort of stuff isn't a healthy diet to me

In the wild, they also eat the meat part of the animal. There is very little of this present in some pet foods, it is mainly the cr*p parts - would you feed an animal on that alone?Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

How much 'pure meat' do you think there is on a mouse or bird?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
More than is in those tins :PProud to be dealing with my debts :T

I just have this "thing" about uncovered food & flys:rolleyes:
Its part of my mini-ocd:rotfl:
lol you'd've loved it when my Mum met my Stepdad, his ex left the cats with him & they were all fed meat outside but even worse, it was own brand stuff like the smartprice level & had just one flavour (Original) & was like the texture of wallpaper paste!0 -
Like you I'm a real fan & sing the praises of premium dried food, but loads of people still want to feed tinned

I think its smelly sloppy stuff that attracts flys in summer:eek:
I KNOW they are the best food you can put down for your cat.
No you FEEL that they are the best you can put down for your cat - ignoring scientific evidence etc. dear me:mad:
anyways I have an infa-red cat feeder from the bad old days when I feed mine mostly wet - if one of you will pay for postage you can have it gratis - stops flies getting on food. Let me know if anyone's interested & I will find out how much it costs to post.0 -

When my Tom was foolish enough to bring home some of his live catch he ate the whole bird - all that was left were 2 feathers. Enough said:T0 -

In my cats case it HAS to be wet regardless of what I preferrita-rabbit wrote: »read the title! Generally cats who don't eat dry or have mostly wet have dental problems - sometimes leading to painful work etc... no brainer:eek:0 -
