maybe you can start a conversation to do with gaming with him and get an idea of what he thinks of the ps3 that way. if you have sky watch the player programmes with him on bravo or watch the pulse channel when there is a gaming programme on. as soon as something ps3 related comes on you can say what do you think. he is then bound to express what he thinks of the console.0

Get him a pair of socks. Kids are spoilt rotten these days imho.
Lets see how much he really loves you from his reaction:p0 -
I think it depends on what he likes to do with his time that will finally decide whats best to get him.
How many films does he own compared to Games and in what ratio does he watch/play with them...
If he loves film, get him the PS3 - its one of the only Blueray players on the market that is upgradable via the firmware updates, plays Divx as well as the Blurays (he will know what thats good for!). The PS3 is also about to launch as video download service which is for keeps, whereas the 360 you can only rent films.
Contrary to poular belief, there are far more than 3 good games out for PS3 that are exclusives, such as MotorStorm (1 & 2) Resistance Fall of Man and load more I cant remember nowMany of them are now available in the platinum range at £20 each.
However, if your son is a gamer rather than a film buff, stick with the 360 - it comes down to game choice and availability that win out on this machine.
A suggestion for you if you decide to stick with the 360 is get a projector instead....
By some specialist projector screen paint (its more reflective) for about £30 and paint one of his walls, bordering it with Black tape. A half decent projector will cost about the same as a PS3 (or get an HD one for about £150 more) and watch his face light up when he realises he can gun down people down whilst playing Halo on an 8 foot screen!
(He will suddenly become incredibly popular with his friends too!)

Thanatos speaks the truth, I recommend you heed his advice.
(Though don't buy Resistance Fall of Man) :P0 -
Why do you need to buy him a big present? He's already got pretty much all the "toys" he's going to want.
Buy him something that gains more sentimental value such as an inscribed watch. The watch will still be around long after all the electronic toys have been broken or consigned to the cupboard of obsolescence.0 -
How about buy him a nice mountain bike. This way he gets some exercise and fresh air. Back in the day....... (I'm only 27 by the way
