Wanted - ISP for Dial-up off peak

I'm looking for an ISP that still provides dial-up access for off-peak usage.

Now that ADSL is more popular, the ISP's don't seem to advertise this service....

I remember a few years ago, freeserve had an off peak service for around £6 /Month

anybody aware of any similar dial-up offers?

thanks in advance.....

  • Tiscali do a dial up. I use Tuscali broad band from home then when away in hotels use the dial up service. You don't have to have the broadband service, just visit https://www.tiscali.co.uk and you can download all the settings there. Also you then get tiscali acelerator, like onspeed, which speeds up the connection by compressing the data.

I am aware of dial-up ISP's and the 'pay as you surf' and 'anytime' offers, but was looking for an Off-Peak service, or even an anytime service for around £5/month....

    thanks

I have been using an ISP called Fast4.net for a few years now and managed to get onto a £5.99/mth unlimited dial up package which I believe they now offer at £6.99. The also offer FreeTalk which reduces your ISP cost by £2/mth.

Worth a look so try this link http://www.fast4.net/_files/dial.asp
    Hope this helps ... :xmassign:

I know v21.co.uk has a good package for the night:

Insomniac - Surf through the night £1.99
    Leave your PC downloading overnight.
Surf between 1:00 to 8:00 hrs daily.
    7 hours a day - 49 hours a week.
    Unbeatable price.

But there must be some other interesting ones for full ev/weekends. Not sure if the 5 GBP would be enough. I think I have not seen recently anything less than 7. It is worth anyway check around all the major providers.
  • Tesco.net have a dial up service

    http://www.tesco.net

01256758717 ( You need to register on line )

Onetel also have a dial network

    http://www.onetel.co.uk/index.php?node=internet-dialup

You will need to telephone 0207 1819966 ( Customer Services ) and register. If you take up the phone service and the dial up internet, then if you quote my account number 00453986 you will get £20 credit to your account, I do believe.

  • I am in the middle of swapping broadband provider and due to having had a datstream product I have had to disconnect from BB and re order so am currently on BT dial up. The beauty of this is that BT provide a national number (0121 ??????) that you can access from abroad in addition to the normal 0845 number.

As I use 1899 and have free evening and weekend calls via primus I am using the national number so am in effect getting free internet access at night and weekend and paying 3p per connection during the day.

I am currently at work and don't have the dial up number available at the moment but you can register at http://www.btyahoo.com/internet/prices - choose the payg option.

I'll check the number later and post it for you if you're interested or drop me a pm if I forget:xmassign:
