So sorry to hear that OP, what a complete Idiot, why start with the ultimatums? Play silly games etc, Im guessing its to make her feel less bad about pulling out, she could say to herself that you wouldnt comply with her needs etc.
I just dont understand why people cant be honest. GRRRRRRRR

Good luck on finding another buyer soon.

The upshot is that it was a put-up job all along. She's been looking at other properties and has decided to buy a cheaper one

I thought you are leaving for the States shortly?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

  • hi guy, I really feel for you and your family. having had 8 very stressful months of selling (finally sold) its an awful process at the moment. nothing is in the bag until you exchange - it's so easy to get all excited when you get that offer but unfortunately there are so many pitfalls getting from offer to exchange these days. good luck

Insult to Injury Update - I didn't mention this at the time because I didn't realise the significance until Saturday.

Our phone line went dead at lunchtime on Friday. Many calls between BT and Sky (who provide our phone) had them blaming each other, no-one could decide whose fault it was or why it happened but it will take 2 weeks to reconnect.

A letter from BT arrived on Saturday morning addressed to our ex-purchaser; confirming that her account had been transferred to our address and her bills would follow.

She had our phone disconnected too!

The temptation to let her be reconnected to your line and phoning speaking clock.....in Australia.;)

With all this strange post arriving for no-one who has ever lived at, or had the intention of living at your address, I would think it is your civic duty to notify the senders of these letters that you suspect identity theft.;)
