I'm going to France next week with Ryanair and I'd like to take some chedder cheese and yorkshire parkin in my hand luggage for friends who live there. My OH thinks its illegal and will be confiscated does any one out there know cos I'd hate to have bonfire night without parkin.
thanks in advance

Ive read this from start to finish and I cant find an answer as mostly its a row about taking your own booze on board and how many cigs you can bring from Turkey. Very funny but it doesnt answer my question, thanks for your help though.0 -

As the OP is taking the food to a friend, the problem is not taking the food on the plane, but whether French customs will allow it into the country0

Absolutely no problem taking either in your hand luggage to France (though I did have to look up what Yorkshire Parkin is!). You can generally take any food products to other EU states - unless there is a BSE/bird flu/foot and mouth outbreak, which is the only time you will normally see a customs officer at the other end! Enjoy your trip to France!0

Thank you
Parkin is obligatory for bonfire night in Yorkshire!0 -
Hello!!!
Back from berlin on a cheapy ryanair and ready to rock.
You can take any food you want to another EU state as long as its for fit for human consumption, ie not rotten etc, and as long as its held for a non commercial purpose.
All the best
