I am moving into a rental property on a 6 month lease and need a broadband service. I do not want to use virgin media as they have a 12 month minimum contract. I do not need a home phone service either as just use my mobile.
So my question is - What is the best broadband service to go for? I am a medium usage user and there is a telephone socket already in the property - I do not want to pay out money for a bt line if I don't have to - again 12 month contract not needed.
I've spent the morning looking into this and am no very confused!! The broadband companies certaintly don't make it simple.
If anyone has done the same or has any advice it would be most gratefully received.
Thanks, Billy.

Ther are a few broadband providers that offer no contracts however if you cancel within 12 months you get a charge of some sort due to what they call defferred fees so be careful.
I think plusnet offer a no contract package if you take no modem as do virgin media (non cable) also id net or namesco.
you may have to pay a small fee to leave but its better than larger isps that bill you for whole contract.0 -
You'll need a BT based line for the vast majority of providers, the only other option is mobile broadband. So first you should find a landline provider that require you to be with them for 6 months or less.0
