Marshallka did you have a method that showed what the Fos follow eg what was paid with PPI and what would have been paid if PPI wasnt added?

I sent a letter to Egg asking for my original signed agreement as per outlined in step one of claiming PPI back. I cannot see anywhere on the paperwork where i have agreed to take out a PPI policy, except for where it outlines it in the loan amount. I know that Egg have been hit recently with mis-selling PPI. I plan on using the template letter here to claim it back but i wanted to know which is the best option to use from the letter, it offers many scenarios. As far as i am concerned, i have not highlighted anywhere or ticked any box to confirm that i wanted PPI.

    Hi there
I would check this out and to make sure you leave nothing out that you think may occur to you:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

As you may know the letter reclaim template is on the link, and some useful PPI info of why may some may have been mis sold PPI.

Add as much info as you can to the letter, if you can try to change the letter into your own words, not for it to look so much like a template letter then and add your own reasons of why you believe you were mis sold.

They have 8 weeks to respond to you in full, sometimes another letter maybe required if you receive a fob of response first time round, however, if it comes to this let us know so we can help you along with this.

Post by recorded delivery as well to keep a check on the 8 weeks timescale they have, you can check its delivery on the Royal-Mail website for customers tracking.

    Good luck.;)

Dreamer, did you pay these anything upfront?

If they are harrassing you, next time they call ,say you will call the OFT and ICO and any other initials!!! You will also be taking legal advice and they must now shred all the details they hold on you.

Pinknico, the method they use is to work the loan repayments and split them into two being what was for the loan and what was for the PPI. Then take the APR and work out how many repayments were made without the PPI element included. Then they work out the settlement and what it would have been using the method whatever year it was. Mine was on the use of rule of 78. Then they take the whole repayments including the PPI element and work out how many repayments were made and then what the settlement would have been. They then take one from the other and this is the amount of the PPI redress. Then depending on what method they use again (compound or simple) they add the interest to that.

No one can tell you what to put in your letter as every complaint differs but just add what is applicable to you.

As regards the agreement have you received the copy yet??

Marshallka, read with interest your article on how refunds of single premiums are allocated. I am wondering how mine with the FSCS will work as I know I would have a cheque sent to me if I won my claim so I assume that would be for payments already paid? And then the loan gets restructured to take off future PPI payments and interest?
Wonder if I could email them and ask or whether I would get the same reply as Di?!!

I have wondered this as well Pinknico, because with mine its being dealt with by both the liquidators and FSCS, although the liquidators state although they require our info, it will then be sorted through the FSCS...... .

I do hope they sort this one out soon for you as well hun, and hope you hear soon.;)
Have you decided to send them an email yet hun?
Will be interesting to know what your response would be.....

Hope you get a better response than I did form them anyway.;) x
