Just checked emails and this from the FOS that were dealing with the case here, but its so confusing as we have only received that one letter from HFC:
And the letter she sent us was dated 12 November, unless she was on about the one about Hamilton too, think that one was dated the 4th, I will have to check. I see she is asking for me to return the copy of the complaint form she sent me, I wonder........
    Dear
    Thank you for your emails.
I note that HFC Bank have advised that this complaint is outside of our jurisdiction. However in order to establish whether we can assist you, please return copies of all the correspondence that has exchanged between you and HFC along with the complaint form which was returned to you with my letter of 04 November 2008.
    Kind Regards
    Miss A

    Financial Ombudsman Service
Di, its about the endeavour insurance isn't it. Well didn't you request the copy of the insurance policy like you said you were going to do and that would be between you and HFC wouldn't it.

    Who was the insurance with???

I am so confused here as you have mentioned hamilton too...:confused:
  • Sorry, I havent been on here for a while - still reading messages when I can!! Have sent an email to FOS yesterday, their reply:

    Thank you for your message.
We are still currently in discussions with Firstplus about your case and other PPI complaints similar to it.
Firstplus have raised wider issues including such things as Regulatory matters which we are currently dealing with.
We will, however, progress your complaint further as soon as possible

Does anyone know what 'Regulatory matters' mean or include etc??? :confused:Any help would be appreciated

    Hi everyone

We took out a secure loan from first plus in 2006. The amount borrowed was £15000 the loan also had payment protection plan which was added to the loan under the heading PPP Loan for £2989.50. Then in may 2007 we took a further advance of £5000 Im a bit sketchy about this as I cant find the second lot of paperwork so Im not sure if we then had to take out a further PPP or not. We then paid the account in full May 2008 for the grand sum of £24,435.53. I m not sure if I have been taken for a ride or if I am just badly bruised by this. So I was wondering if there is anyone out there who might be able to advise me.

For info I never missed a payment so between oct 2006 till May 2007 I paid £178.12 a month then from May 2007 £245 a month. The loan was over a period of 180 mths.

what I do know is that I will never ever take out a secured loan again

    Ta very much

    Marie

i sent my letter to 1st plus on Monday 01-12-08 requesting a reakdown of the settlement fees. I have recieved 2 letters from them to day with the info in

Loan 1 Total amount payale under the agreement £17730.86 is made up of the balance at settlement date £17697.62 plus £33.24 interest charge on early settlement.
Less rebate on early settlement figure £1730.86 includes £946.10 insurance policy rebate and £784.76 discretionary rebate.
The total amount payable less the rebate on early settlement plus admin charge £150 has given a settlement as at 09-05-2007 16000.00

Loan number 2 which started as the one above ended as we asked for a further advance Total amount payable under the agreement £41457.29 is made up of the balance at settlement date £25298.16 plus £16159.13 interest charge on early settlement
Less rebate on early settlement figure £17171.76 includes £1288.93 insurance policy reate and £15882.83 reate of the remaining interest charge which is calculated using the formula under the above regulations (Consumer Credit (early settlement) regulations 2004.
The total amount payable less the rebate on early resettlement plus admin charges on £150 has given a settlement figure as at 09-05-08 of £24435.53.

I hope this make ssome sense to someone as it makes non to me

Have not heard about Tax on stat interest before. With my unmentionables which include interest and stat I was told that it would not be included in my income and that if there was problems with Bankruptcy etc they would hold the money in an account as it was not counted as income. By saying this it would mean that it was not included in my assets:confused:So am confused as to why this is being stated. If you get money back for injury compensation etc would you pay tax on this if there was interest etc. Do not know if this is the same but is confusing. Perhaps what we need to be doing is claiming 8% plus 20% of total to cover Tax:rolleyes:

Hi am not sure about this cause have not been keeping an eye and whether anybody has replied before. Marshallka is our expert on here and am sure she will understand your figures. Can I ask when you paid the reduced amount could you have claimed on your PPI Insurance for this. Have you ever claimed on your PPI during the times of the Loans?

This looks like unfair rebate to me instead of just reclaiming PPI.

As I say am sure Marshallka will have a look so keep an eye on here and she will get back to you.;)

I got this about mine with Firstplus that FOS told me had to go to the insurer..
Thank you very much for your email. My enquiries are on-going, and I am currently awaiting more information from Firstplus.

Without sight of the information I am unable to comment on jurisdiction. I appreciate that you are concerned about moving your case forward, however, I can assure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure that your complaint is progressed as quickly possible. As previously explained your case may need to be referred to our legal department, which means that it may take a few months before we are able to resolve the issue.

We will keep you informed, so that you are aware of the steps we will be taking.

Thank you for your continued patience
