Hi, I'm new to this forum and am looking for some advice about the dreaded First Plus and their tactics. I sent off the template letter on the 16th and got a letter back last week telling me that because we got it through a broker (Ocean) then they were basically washing their hands of it and passing it onto them to deal with. Has anyone got any experience of these brokers and if it is just FP trying it on with me and oh? We are willing to go all the way on this as the ppi policy is nearly 15k and the insurance about 13k so not paltry sums of money.Any advice is gratefully received!

Hi and welcome.

Yes unfortunately it seems the main complaints are about FP.
And yes its the broker you write to pursue on this as they are the ones who arranged your finance for you.

So they have confirmed then they have sent the details to them on your behalf?
As they have 8 weeks to respond in full, its good to know when they received the details so you can keep an eye on the timescales they have.

I would now contact Ocean to ask if they have received your details sent from First Plus yet, just to be sure.

Don't know if you've had the chance to check out the success & failure thread which is next to this one, maybe someone will be able to confirm if they've any experience with Ocean, and I know you should be able to find posts about FP.;)

Keep posting hun so we can help where we are able to, cheers.

Thanks Di - that is a big help in clearing up some questions I had in mind. We got a letter back from FP and Ocean on the same day. have got actual names, reference numbers etc. O say they will investigate this and get back to us. My OH wanted to write back to FP but after seeing your comments I think it wiser to wait. I've read some horror stories about FP and feel a bit daunted but definiately not put off - thanks again!

looking into claiming from EGG & MBNA on the basis that I am self employed and have been since applying for the cards and insurance, the advice given to me was too generic and didn't alter even after I mentioned that I was self employed, anyone had experience of claiming from these? I have had both cards for over 10 years
