If you have an interceptor and soakaway on you own property you can claim £24 back from your water company because you are treating your own water supply. I known it's not a great amount of money but better in you your pocket than in their's. they wont nominate this information to you but just call them and tell them you have an interceptor and soakaway. they will then send you a form to fill in.
Hope this helps some people but i dont have one.

An interceptor or soakaway are forms of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (or SuDS) and are for the treatment of stormwater NOT foul water.
A soakway can in its simplest form can be your roof drain pipe draining into your front or back garden and therefore stormwater does not enter the drainage sytem for treatment at the expense of the water company; thus the refund.
I'm not sure an interceptor is required since these are usually installed for intercepting sediments which are probably insignificant on most roof tops (unless of course you live in a mansion!).
Water Butts (a barrel at the bottom of a downpipe to collect water which can be used for gardening etc.) can also be used also be used to avoid storm water entering the sewerage system.
Be sure to seek advice from your water company before making any changes to your stormwater drainage system.
Hope that helps.

also one other point if your soakaway blocks thats it you cant really unblock them you maybe able to get rid of some of the cr*p inside them (this you will need a very very compentent drainage engineer) but 99.9% of the time you either have to dig out the old one if you know where it is or just dig a new one.
And just one last thing for those people who have an interceptor please please what ever you do when you have them emptied make sure the tanker engineer leaves the top crust on as this is the thing that fights all the bacteria. LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0
