if you live near walsall go to the saddlers centre near the he mutistory car park is a store called clearence bargins. its a argos cat clearence store as they own it. in there they have a got a dvd system it contains 2 5" screens and dvd player and also all the leads and kit for home and the car at £80. same one in the cat £179 so bag yourself a bargin. :money: plus theres loads of other things in there from three pice suites to cd and dvd players at 75% less than the cat. price

Just a note to anyone who has bought a PDVD1012 model DVD portable player.. I've just whitnessed two go up in smoke when connected to the 12v adaptor that comes in the box...

A friend bought one tonight and we tried it out when we got back to his car in the car park, within around 1 min of being connect via the supplied adaptor smoke started to pour out of the top of the open lid/display!!! we disconnected it straight away and returned it for another.... Again within a couple of mins the same thing happend.. He took the second back for a refund..

I'm not sure if this is a duff batch but I'm sure there is nothing wrong with his lighter socket as we use it all the time for sat nav & mobile charging etc..

So just a word of caution.. I wouldn't like to think what would happen if you strapped one of these to the back of your seat for the little one to watch and the thing goes up behind your head while your driving along.. If you've got a PDVD1012 model.... I'd test it out in the front seat while stationary for a while, just to make sure...

anyone know if watching these things in the car increases the likelihood of car sickness?
Been thinking about getting one but my kids area bit prone to a bout of vomitting on journeys!
  • Personally i would think that it would make little difference. My understanding of vehicle sickness is that the eyes are unable to focus on a fixed point due to the motion of the vehicle, ie, side to side up and down etc.
Then again saying that if the child was to focus on the screen then it should help. Just a little maybe.
Watch out, you never know who is about.

Hi I bought one of these DVD players the other day, used it for the 1st time today in the car and after 10 mins I felt really sick watching it, had to get OH to pull over so I could be sick!!!

But on a different note the damn thing then broke we have sound & the dvd is going round but no picture, has any one else had this problem??
I am going to take it back tomorrow but I think I got the last one. My little boy is gonna be really dissapointed if they can't replace it & I can't afford a more expensive one
  • Hi i am after a portable dvd player for my sons birthday , anyone know the best price and deal around? thanks if you can help.
