Honda servicing trying to rip me off - brake discs question
Comments
-
Well they come to my house to pick the car up and drop it back so it is no problem for me. Will have them done at a local garage anyway, not at Honda.
The Honda guy has admitted they didn't need doing straight away, he said bring it back in in january - and he gave me AA cover for a year as well.
my point was not about wasting your time, it was the fact that whilst they have the car up on the ramp wheels off brakes apart they might as well slip the new pads in, rather than paying for them to come collect the car, get it on the ramp, wheels +brakes off, then redeliver your car0 -
The Dealership is having a laugh telling you that discs wear at the same rate as pads - no manufacturer in the world would make discs with that life span (unless the garage has used poor quality imports). If the problem is corrosion then you should get your discs skimmed (check out https://www.skimmydiscs.co.uk for your nearest workshop) this will solve your problem quickly and cheaply. Honda should have told you this as it is an approved process so why they didn't offer it to you I don't know - well I do, they get more money from replacing discs. Don't let them rip you off by replacing your parts before they need to.0

Discs wear out far faster than they used to. That's because there's more metallic content in pads, now they've got shut of asbestos, in order to get the same braking effect.0 -
Another accord here 2003 2.4 with 70k miles - replaced all the discs and pads with EBC's for £150 delivered, a local mechanic fitted them all. Both rears were very rusty/scored on the swept area - never had it so bad on any of my previous cars.0
