    are you on broadband?

Try uninstalling and re-installing the broadband modem

our aol stopped working for no apparent reason, and we did that and it worked....

    aol is generally crap though...
  • If its on Windows XP, goto Control Panel, click Category View, then Perfomance & Maintenance. Top left of the window will be a System Restore, then hope a pray that it had system restore turned on, and roll it back to a date before you ran ccleaner on it.

I have AOL on mine and always run Ccleaner and never had any problems.
  • it is broadband yes... i will try that. cheers

    Hi saucyxx

Can you give us more precise details on what files are "missing" and other error messages you are seeing on screen. That will give us more of a clue as to where to look for possible solutions. (By the way I echo the other comment about the quality of aol; move your ISP to "Force9").

EDIT: forgot the F9 link. Here it is.....

  • im not with the computer at the moment, but i will write down the error messages and come back on here later on, thanks

Make sure you have an AOL disk pick one up in currys or dixons.

The only tru way to get AOL working again is to completely uninstall the software via add/remove programs and when asked tick both boxes to uninstall user folders this will also uninstall the AOL dial up on demand adapter I know you are on Broadband but the adapter still gets installed.

So remove AOL in control Panel Add/Remove programs. And also do a search and remove and AOL folders and files manually, Run CCleaner the restart PC,, then with and AOL disk reinstall the software, and then just say you are an existing member when asked or if asked and then get any updates.

Ex AOL employee so the above probably wont work
  • I know a lot of people on this forum use CCleaner but can someone tell me if you can restore changes you have made to prevent what has happened to Saucyxx. I have the program installed but am wary about using it as I cant see a way to restore changes like my other cleaners do (e.g. Fix-It Utilities and EasyCleaner).

Yes you create a backup when scanning for issues if you dont then thats
the users problem and not the programs fault...
