From what I've read on these boards I 'm under the impression that NW are more likely to give you a CC rather than their 3-in-1 debit card.
Yes, that has been my experience anyway, I have a CC with a 1000 credit limit with them but only a cashcard on the flex account.

My Nationwide account is used for all my home related direct debits gas, elec, phone, tv, council tax, water. So it regularly has app £300 per month going in noy fussed that they refused to upgrade me though surprised as Lloyds/TSB told me my credit rating was excellent

To be honest that's not very much.

Most current accounts want you to pay in something like £500-1,000 a month.

I had a savings account with Nationwide for about 14 years before I opened a current account with them. I was given a debit card with no problems. (My saving account didn't have much in it at the time but there where times when it had a lot in it.)

Likewise all my friends who have were given debit cards on their flexaccounts had savings accounts with them for a long time. A few of them also have their mortgage with them.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • Actually i'm quite glad i don't have a current accoont with debit card with them. They take a day longer than the banks for your cheque to clear. They DO NOT inform you by post of any other means to tell you if you don't have enough funds in your account to meet your direct debits. If you want a back statement they charge you. When i was charged £30 a pop for missing DD's they logged it all and tell me when its all sorted out about bank charges they would get back to me but it wouldn't surprise me at all if i had to go through my statements all over again. I'm not overly impressed with them and now you can't even get a mini statement over the counter but have to use the atm (which i never use normally as the acc is just for DD's).I just hope i'm not going to have trouble when i use the ATM's abroad. I did say i was going for 10 weeks but they said i don't have to inform them. They will only refuse if there are strange withdrawals made but i would have thought that suddenly withdrawing wads (well maybe not wads lol) of cash in Goa when i never use it for withdrawing cash anywhere would appear quite strange. We'll see i guess
