    Canceling or closing an account does not block it from being debited. If you report a card lost it should block it. I can't speak for capitol one but RBS credit cards definately get blocked if lost as do the HBOS ones.

    The morale however must be to never give ongoing authority with your credit card. Use direct debits instead.

    Totally agree! Direct Debit is much safer and I don't give my card details out for CPA. Unfortunately, some companies will only accept this method of payment though :confused:
