Is it possible to bid for a house anonymously ?

I dont understand why you cant get 3 agents in to give a realistic price for the house ?0

Yes - if the OP wants to buy his wifes share, then its best to be upfront about it.0

I think what the OP is suggesting is putting in a ridiculously low anonymous offer which will of course be rejected.
Then put in a similar low ball offer just above that rejected in the hope of conning the ex out of several thousands of pounds.
Wrong forum, Moneyscammingexpert.com is over there ! >>>>>>>>>>>>
I think you're wrong, The OP says they have had valuations 6 months ago, he intends to say to his ex, "It was valued at 140K 6 months ago, I'll give you 70K for your half" Wife will maybe say 'no' maybe say 'yes'
If 'Yes', OP has done his wife a favour
If 'No' OP will say "ok then lets put it on the market"
If it is put on the market OP intends on putting in an anonymous offer maybe 10K under asking price - which in this market might well be considered to be a good offer. I am knocking 20 - 30K off the asking prices for my offers to buy.0 -

First off I should have said "make an offer" rather that bid. We are not talking about an auction here.
The situation is that I intend to buy out my ex. Unfortunately, I believe that she has an unrealistic opinion as to the value of the property.
When she refuses my offer (which I consider more than generous since, I intend to base on valuations that are almost 6 months old), I'll call her bluff and say right lets put it on the market.
..... hence the need for an anonymous bid/purchase or she'll reject offers/pull out thinking I've pulled a fast one, as I'm more than likely to get it for 10/15K less than the valuation on which I base my original offer.
That'll just get us both back to square one, when I want this sorted.
Do you not have a mate that your ex doesn't know?0 -
I can see why she dumped such a devious liar.
There's no way I would allow an agent to put forward offers from unreliable secret bidders.Been away for a while.0 -
You've also got to be aware that the minute an anonymous offer goes in she'll know exactly who is it.0

I think some on here have got the wrong end of the stick here.
I'm not tryin to con anybody .... else why would I be prepared to buy her out based upon 6 month old evaluations.i.e. pay over the odds.
I'm just trying to speed things up.
As has been suggested we got 3 valuations in spring. She refused to believe what the agents were telling her. She has this ridiculous idea that we should be able to get something nearer to what next doors was sold at over 18 months ago. So we have waited and waited.... and surprise surprise prices have fallen further.
I want the house.
If we then put it on the open market at and I make a bid its bound to be at or below the spring price. A price we already know she wont except.
If she knows its me bidding, she will suspect just as others here already have, that I'm trying to scam her... WHICH I AM NOT.
She'll pull out and we'll be back to where we started.
So my question stands. Can I bid anonymously ?
I don't care if she thinks I've done a job on her after the event (which she will) I just want to buy the bloody house at a fair market price.0 -
I would have thought you'd have trouble getting an estate agent to pass on anonymous bids to her - they're paid for and working on behalf of the vendor, so wouldn't want to get involved with any dodgy schemes.
I would have thought it would be worth getting another 3 valuations now - doubtlessly they'll be lower than the ones you had in Spring and the estate agents probably more downbeat and the change might help her see the situation.
Equally, I would have thought it's worth getting it on the market - if it goes on and the viewers are few and far between and the offers non-existant, she may start to see that the whole thing would be much easier if she let you buy her out.0 -
Yes, you can make as many anonymous bids as you like. But under money laundering legislation you will then be required to reveal your identity and financial situation. No agent will be happy dealing with a bid from the owner of the house. Like it or not your wife owns half the house, and sooner or later you are going to have to sort something out with her.illuminate wrote: »So my question stands.
