Getting Extra leg room seats cheaper

I am slightly claustrophobic and am dreading 10 hours in January!

They want £100 pp for the seats which just isnt do-able!

Any advice would be great

OH has sometimes managed to blag free bulkhead seat/s on 'medical' grounds, but he is well over 6 foot 6 tall and does not fit readily into ordinary seats due to his leg length.
Have you contacted the airline to discuss your needs?
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Yeah i spoke to some disinterested girl first of all i my wife is also pregnant and quite tall too. She told me pregnant women cant sit in the X leg room seats as they have to be able to help people exit should there be an emergency. Presumably all the seats are near these exits? Dont know what to try? Can you blag on fake medical grounds? LOL

First choice, Thompson and Thomas Cook flights all have 33" seat pitch on long haul - This is much more than the standard 29-30" on short haul. Who do you fly with - If scheduled carrier check seatguru.com
  • If you have a recognised disability or a doctors note, you should be able to get medical seats, these are often the seats at the front and have a little more room. Some airlines are better than others at this. My ds has autism and we have had medical seats before, because he is claustraphobic. Who are you flying with.?
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly
  • hi thanks for your replies
We are flying thomas cook which i have heard bad things about ! Typical!

    any suggestions??

No word of a lie the very thought of being on that plane makes me feel sick!

BTW when we booked with friends i got the impression that ELS were part of the deal - stupid i know!

If it's going to be a problem, I would get it sorted out in advance rather than hoping for the best on the day of the flight.

We came back from Turkey with Monarch earlier in the year, and before take off they made an announcement that they had some extra leg room seats available, but you were only allowed to move to them if you paid the upgrade fee. Nobody did, so the seats remained empty.
Here I go again on my own....
  • I work for an airline, and we have a Department called Special Assistance who are happy to put notes in the booking if you suffer from Claustrophobia etc. Sometimes these notes will help you to get bulkhead seats etc on the day of departure, however they can't be guaranteed as it depends on how many babies on the flight that day that need skycots
Be kind to nature, and nature will look after you...

The disinterested girl is certainly correct with regard to pregnant women and exit rows and given the informtion below, I would suggest that should you wish to sit with your missus, you're f****d for extra legroom. ;) ..... So as noted above, you'll just have to console yourself with having a healthy 33" of legroom :)

I really wouldn't get your hopes up, because as you say, your wife is pregnant and presumably will not be given an exit row seat, severely limiting extra leg room seats available.

Please tell me your employer doesn't recommend seating Claustrophobics by the door? _pale_
