Always use Thunderbird for emails and Firefox for web browsing, as they flash up a banner if they detect a spam/phishing email.

However I think that people who click on these links should not get their money back as a lesson - why should my bank subsidise people who cannot be trusted with on line banking and security...When I joined Internet banking the letter told me about phishing and the banking website when I login always comes up with this warning, so there's no excuse for stupidity!

It smelt of Nigeria with the wording and when it addressed you as " LloydsTSB Money Customer" I bank with Lloyds and every email I have ever had from Lloyds has always addressed me as my first name.

Other ways to tell its fake

They used the "You first" phrase, its now "For the Journey"
Every email contains a 2012 logo
    Picture is random
They will always tell you to go to www.lloydstsb.com and login yourself and any messages sent by the bank are displayed as you login
    The wording awful
There are otherways us scambaiters know of but I won't disclose

I agree with your post, why should people get their money back? This was a fake a very bad one at that at least when they address you as an esteemed customer you know its a deffinate fake - Its lloyds afterall lol
  • I had one yesterday from Abbey National, I thought they were just Abbey now and have been for a long time lol!!!!

  • what I can't understand is why people who fall for these ridiculous emails almost always get a full refund straight away without fuss from their banks, yet people who get their chip n pin cards cloned at a dodgy atm end up having their refund refused?
