I'm glad you've sorted it and not been too badly hit, but anyone who falls for one of these e-mails shouldn't be allowed to have on-line banking.

From LloydsTSB website:

You asked us:
I have received a suspicious email from Ll ...

Our answer is:
From time to time we may contact you via email if you have chosen to receive product and service information in this way. However, at no point will we ever ask you to confirm Internet Banking or Telephone banking User IDs, Passwords and Memorable Information in full by email or direct you to a web page that asks you to do this. If you are concerned that you have already divulged your details, or suspect that any of your Lloyds TSB accounts have been compromised, contact us immediately on 0845 3000 116 (+44 20 7649 9437 from overseas).

Please follow the link for more about your security online. If you receive such an email, please do not click on any link or provide any Internet Banking or telephone banking log on details. If you suspect you've received a fraudulent email, please forward it to us at emailscams@lloydstsb.co.uk and then delete it from your inbox.

This week when logging onto Lloyds site there is a message saying that they are not going to send out any unexpected emails for 4 weeks and to send any you get to the above address. They ALWAYS address you by name in any email and not 'dear customer'.

It's hard to understand how anyone hasn't heard about phishing emails by now, almost every screen on Lloyds site warns about them!

link removed...cheers..

I think the problem we had was that we came back of holiday and the wife opened emails.......before the mail!!! seeing the tsb email caught here out...

on another note, when we called tsb they said that they DO NOT send emails out requiring any info for any matter....be aware!

Every bank gets these spam emails. The spammers seem to pick on one or two banks at a time. However, they are so easy to spot as fake. I got one this morning that is full of spelling mistakes and poor grammar and worded in a way a bank would not word a letter. As per usual, American spellings were used.

These scammers have been doing these cons for years. I get several such e-mails each week.

NEVER NEVER NEVER click on a link in an e-mail to access your internet banking facility!
• Another way of finding if spam etc with banks/ebay/paypal{i get them all too}
they usually address the email as Dear NATWEST/ebay/paypal customer
if you are a customer then they would use the email your account is on say Dear Mr Joe Bloggs etc.

I know with ebay/paypal, you can check your message box and the message owuld be there as well as your email inbox if it was real.

My mum always gets the email and she's always forwarding them on to me to find out. So I tell her to check her online stuff and ignore emails.
Can't think of anything funny to put here!

My advice to anyone who is unsure if an email is a scam (100% emails from the bank asking for personal details IS a scam), phone the branch direct using the phone number you already have for your branch and ask for confirmation.
