Here are a few extra links that might help, for those needing information to claim DLA. As far as I can tell, these are the free ones, although of course there are a growing number of services offering to fill in the forms for a fee - but that's hardly within the moneysaving ethos is it? Anyone wanting to look at these sites can simply Google "Help with filling in DLA forms".
Here goes: -
http://dlahelpgroup.com/
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/DisabilityLivingAllowance/index.htm
http://www.benefitsinmind.org.uk/claiming_dla_10.htm
This link http://www.jtsma.org.uk/iqs/sid.04273940157331924505778/print.1/dbitemid.119/sfa.view/news_archive.html takes you to a page which references the original 54/57 page document that used to be available from https://www.bhas.org.uk , although obviously the link itself doesn’t work. However I
Spoke to Hilary at JTSMA (on the same page) – and she noted that the link wasn’t working and gave me the following one instead, http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/disabledpeople/financialsupport/DG_10011731 which she hoped would be useful as it's the one they use.
It may be worth phoning to try and find out what has happened to the original document that's referenced on the page, but I suspect it has been 'removed' precisely because it was so useful.
Meantime I will have a look on the main PC and see if I kept a copy of the original file, as I downloaded and printed it off for a friend who was having problems. If it is still there, and there is anyway to upload it legally I’ll do my best.
There’s also this link for deaf children: http://www.ndcs.org.uk/family_support/benefits_m/disability_living_allowance/filling_in_dla_forms.html
And finally this from Cerebra http://www.cerebra.org.uk/parent_support/DLA_guide.htm
It’s a great shame that this extremely useful document has 'disappeared' since it gave very detailed explanations of what to say and how to say it to fulfil the criteria required.
Good luck to all those still struggling. Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever
