I have just started (today) to open the 1 year fixed monthly at 6.8%, have been told when the pack arrives open it with £1 then contact them when the icesave cash arrives, just hope the rate stays the same until it does.

Says on the blurb that the opening deposit should be for the full amount as no additional deposits are allowed.

I saw that but when I asked them they said the £1 is a sort of retainer, we shall see when the pack arrives in 5 days.

Yes, two days from online application.
  • I was told by Saga that I have 2 weeks from intial deposit to placing my lump sum, so I am waiting for my icesave savings to arrive.

Yes, 5days after online application. And thanks again edda.
  • Hi ppl,
Just been told by Saga that the offer is open to top up an initial down-payment on a 6.85% fixed-rate bond using funds from Icesave "so long as the Bond offer is still open." He seemed to think that would be a while yet as the offer is only a week or so old. Seems to me a good deal to move on now: heaven knows what rates will be when Bank rate has been slashed (as I suspect it will have to be). Best.
