Some of us* think that is a bit ostentatious.

NDG got there before me againFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Its the "fur coat but no knickers" syndrome of this era.0

I guess pedantry can be amusing, but really, is it the lowest form of wit?
Maybe not, Russell and Jonathon currentlyhold that title
I wouldn't say it's pedantry or an attempt at wit, I was merely pointing out the lack of quality in your reasoning. I don't think you can draw a line between 'hope' and 'informed decisions', they go hand in hand. Once you've made an informed decision you hope you've made the right one, otherwise there would never have been a decision to make in the first place.
Don't get me started on the whole Brand/Ross thing, it's ridiculous how much capacity people have to be offended on the behalf of others.0 -

I think you must have jumped in too late in the conversation.
A poster had said that I must be hoping that my circumstances don't change or that interest rates don't go up.. This is why I posted the hope thing.
I too am fed up with the Brand/ Ross thing and dont want to get you started.
This form of bullying is sick and in no way comedy. It would do them justice if the people directly offended took matters further in a legal sense:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

Two people complained initially. Then the Mail ran a story on it, and we're now up to 30,000 complaints. Neither of the two complaints were made by Sachs. It's all a bit tiresome, just a media circus. Sachs' granddaughter is loving the publicity. Yawn.
I read a transcript of what was said, and found it to be very funny
Sachs can complain about the phonecalls, nobody else can really. The public can complain that the segments were broadcast, they can't complain about what was left on Sachs' voicemail though can they? The decision to broadcast the pre-recorded segments was an editorial one.0 -

I don't want to drag this out any more than necessary, all I will say is that you appear to be confusing hope with blind hope.0 -

mewbie rings Ross, gets ansaphone.
"dum de dumm dum.. slept with your wife.. dum de dum.. fancy your daughter.. dum de dum... your mother would be fun for a quickie.. dum de dum dum"

Yeah, I fancy a go at this humour myself.

Hilarious.
Seems like Ross can dish it out but can't take it. This is from the latest Popb*i*t*c*h
Given Jonathan Ross' amusement at invading
the privacy of the Sachs' family on Russell
Brand's show, you might be surprised to know
that he's one of the quickest celebrities to
use his lawyers to stop any invasion of his
own privacy. Our favourite? Sending a lawyers'
letter around to stop anyone seeing photos
of him playing tennis with David Baddiel.0 -

NDG got there before me again
Have you read 'The Millionaire Next Door'? It says exactly this. If you've spent your money on 'stuff' - or spend your money on repayments for 'stuff' - it ain't there for you anymore.
'Rich Dad, Poor Dad's' rich dad says that whatever loses it's value is not an asset.
DH has a colleague who looks as though he hasn't got two halfpennies to rub together. He met his parents who are exactly the same. They all drive old cars and they are all very, very rich!
I'm not rich - but I'm a lot richer than I would have been if I had had to have my 'dream' car every couple of years, all the latest technology - plasma TV's and the like, if shopping was my pass time of preference, if I ate out and had takeaways every week, had a winter holiday and long haul summer holiday every year, top of the range furniture, lavish Christmasses - and all that jazz!
It's not rocket science!0
