Gas And Elec Massive Usage

Options
Ok I think this is mad, I live in a mid 2 bed terrice, we are both at work from 6.30 till 4.00 monday to friday, we have a combi boiler for hot water and heating and a gas cooker. We have pre-payment meters fro both gas and electric as its rented, we are with Scottish power for both. RIGHT the thing is we are spending £80 per month on Elec and £60 on gas, and thats before we put the heating on for winter. Does anyone else think this is very high ???? I have asked scottish power to see if all is correct and they say it is. What the hell can I do ??? I cant afford to put the heating on at this rate!!!!

  • Everything is unplugged when we are out at the mains, so theres nothing on standby, ony things that are on are fridge and freezer.

    turn stuff off?

£80 for electricity in summer/autumn months is a lot, even with an expensive prepayment meter.

Gas will probably be 5 times summer usage over the winter.

Yes, you need to say how many gas and electricity kwh you use daily or weekly. Also, how much do you pay per kwh for each?

Spend as in use energy costing that much or spend as in pay that much on monthly payments?
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?
  • elec is 11.45 per kwh.

  • No Immersion, no long showers its too cold, we have enery saving bulbs in. I could do with getting electric heaters but what are cheaper, Oil filled, Halogen or the other ones ?

Immersion or any type of electrical heater on? Long Showers, traditional incandescent bulbs?

Gas CH usually cheaper than heaters.

either your fridge is very expensive to run or you're paying for the neighbours usage.

£80/month at 11.45p/unit equates to 22.5 units per day, which is about double the average usage.

So you need to go around looking at what is plugged in

Unless you are clearing previous debt?

So not quite a clear cut answer then.
