I would never back censorship in any guise, but I don't see where you're coming from suggesting that the MSE site might be going down that route.
I could equally be described somewhat politely as "not suffering fools gladly" but I don't see the point in criticising someone for criticism's sake. Martin may be a journalist, but he's not really the purveyer of all evil, as some would make out. He has brought information to the masses, and for that he should be lauded, whatever his own gains might be.

You missed the main point ! The posting was on a special section of the above mentioned forum for 5 star members only, where it was clearly stated that the strict rules would not be applied. [clue as to the website / forum : T.v.] They have almost more banned members than active ones !
The reason appears to be that
1. the Mods consider themselves THE experts and cannot bear to see anyone showing a superior knowladge to theirs.
2. One of the Super Mods runs a profitable consultancy advice business on the website as Sponsor and if he's shown not to be as qualified legally and as knowledgeable as the member posting, (which he by chance isn't ) ,he feels his business threatened, so the 'intruder ' has to be got rid of.
Fortunately neither circumstances apply to Martin who is a gentleman.0 -

I've had a number of posts to these forums deleted in the past, with not even the courtesy of an explanation....not exactly the mark of 'gentlemanliness' (or pragmatism). In fact I promised that I would never post on here again but, as you can see, I swallowed that one!
Things look as though they may have improved though. I haven't been 'banned' this time for suggesting that Martin was engaging in pseudo-legal waffle (which he certainly was)...so maybe you're right. I think its impossible to operate a useful forum while operating heavy-handed 'moderation'. It's a lesson that takes most people a long time to learn.
But all of that is by the by. The question still stands...is there really a legal basis to differentiate between UK residents and non-residents when it comes to posting on this web site?0 -
I think you made your point some time ago and no one is interested. Drop it or you'll only get frustrated again.0
