The idea is supposed to be that we don't pay VAT on essentials such as food but we pay VAT on luxuries such as biscuits, crisps, toilet roll!, etc
And sanitary stuff! Stupid people :rolleyes: They're real 'luxuries' aren't they :rotfl:

A biscuit with choc chips in is classed as food so zero rated. One with choc on top is luxury apparently so you pay VAT on! Also, from memory, gold jewellery was zero rated. Madness!0
