Enjoyed the programme - I think it's a generational thing also. My grandparents never discussed money and they tended to stick with the same bank/service/shops etc. regardless of price or service.
Edilass - can't believe you haven't switched your bank yet! I can only presume you already have a well-paying and performing current account with one of the banks recommended in Martin's best buys!
Remembered this post about switching banks or not as in my case
Well another thing I have never switched is my electricity supplier mainly because the one time I looked into it I had/still have three meters due to using night time and nightstore heaters and whoever it was I spoke to said it couldn't be done because of these meters. It was some years ago.
Yesterday I got a letter from Scottish Power to tell me they were increasing my monthly dd from £85 to a whopping £245
It turns out my meter has not been read for coming up two years, only had estimate last June and they are working on my usage being £1500 for the year.
Now, we are talking a two bed cottage here, not a six bed mansion!
Meter reader coming on Monday and thanks to a tip off from Ivan Opinion I know what package to apply for once we get a correct meter reading and I get a lesson in how to read this fancy new meter
Hopefully there have been big mistakes for the past two years of estimated bills and my new dd won't be too bad
But slapped wrist from Martin and jo_b for not looking into this sooner!0 -
I went to read this after watching the Childs last night, well done to them and I'm sorry they couldn't be on IPTW when Martin gave their update from 3 years ago :T
I have still never changed my bank or my electricity supplier
But I did get a whopping £945 back from Scottish Power as when my meter went on fire they carried forward the wrong meter readings :j
