Lost contract mobile phone do i have to pay for usage that is not mine?

I lost my contract mobile phone a few weeks ago but did not think to call t-mobile to cancel the contract, instead i kept putting off ringing their high rate number until i had managed to arrange a temporary phone with a temporary pay and go sim to use so that i could ring them to arrange them to send out a new sim card.

During the time that my phone had been lost however, i have recently found that there have been £130 worth of calls been used to which T-mobile insist i am liable for and if i were to refuse to pay i would be blacklisted.

I am now feeling foolish for not ringing to cancel the sim in the first place as i have no proof of it being lost for this duration.

Does anyone know anyway around this or am i destined to pay this huge bill that belongs to a thief!

    All your responsibility, no-one elses!

Apart from them blacklisting you, expect them to chase you for the money. Contact them and come to some amicable arrangement to pay this off.

You fail to report the phone straight away so you are liable for all the calls up until the time you reported it.

If you had spent a few extra pence on their expensive hight rate number in the beginning it would have been cancelled straight away and you would not have this large bill to pay. A lesson learned I think.

    WHAAAATT!!?!!?!

I'm sorry but you've been beyond foolish with this and I'm sure you now regret not spending the couple of pounds on the phone call to stop it now don't you?
It's your own fault and you shouldn't expect to be let off the hook.

your only chance is if you have insurance

Few weeks? You should thank to the thief that they're not using until £1300. Do you filled any police report on that day or Insurance?
  • The high rate number that is all of about 5ppm.

You are liable for them, and even if you had insurance then I'm sure it would be invalidated by not reporting the loss within a specified time after discovering it was missing.

    Learn from your mistake..
  • Ok, thought as much, lesson learned,
    thanks
