I'm getting bloody fed up with it and could just cry. I've spent a fortune running our one oil filled radiator over the weekend just to get a bit of warmth.
Our meter is with n power and it's been one thing after another. At the moment the meter is taking 70p out of every pound I put on the card for no reason. They are refusing to send an engineer to look at it. Hence on Thursday I put £10 on it which should have lasted us until payday (tomorrow) but it didn't as the meter took £7. Then after using the hob twice and running three showers the gas was gone.
What can I do? We are all here with two jumpers on and freezing still.

Is the meter taking any debt? Leaving the card in the meter and pressing the display button gives you more info.
You have to call Npower again to find out why it's taking the money it is. Do you have a debt with them and if so can you negotiate the payment rate down?0 -
No we don't owe anything, and have had the meter for years.
I think they could have reset it somehow, but no idea. they won't send an engineer as it's not an emergency. I've also requested our statements of top ups and what the meter has taken but that was 3 weeks ago, and nothing yet.
Freezing our asses off here.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
When the meter shows how much credit you have, press and hold the red button until the screen changes - make a note of what it says and the number in the corner of the screen (either 00 or 27). press the red button again and the screen will change.
Make a note of what each screen says - specifically 00, 01, 02, 03, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31.
00 is your last top up, 01 how much went towards a debt, 02 how much went to pay back emergency credit and 03 how much you got for gas.
27 is how much debt the meter thinks you owe, 25 & 26 how much it wants to take each week
31 is another type of debt, and 29 & 30 how much it wants for this debt.
nPower can change the last 6 screens by sending a message to your meter - they don't need to send an engineer round.
If you want to stick up what the screens say we can work out what's going on.0 -
Has it ever gone off/faulted in the recent past i.e call help-engineer visit required?
Have you ever noticed a situation whereby the gas has run out,the meter is showing OFF,but your gas still works?
Engineers only visit to correct faults, i.e call help type issues. They have no control over accountancy issues and cannot do anything with regard to adjustments of monies etc. That is all remotely administered by your supplier.0 -
Great post SwanJon, one of those to refer back to in the future for similar posts.0
