Hello everyone!
I went and bought some Brown Paper from tescos to wrap the presents but I'm not sure what to use ribbon wise I want it to look traddtional and classy! I'm sure I saw someones picture on here which included a candy cane attached to it.
Any ideas would be much appreciated!
Has anyone got a link to some decorated presents? I'd love to get some ideas and brown paper with raffia and a candy cane sounds really nice?:D0 -
i did this a few years ago.... i used brown paper tied with raffia and then threaded on a couple of home dried orange slices and a cinnamon stick then a simple knot. they did look lovely.0

sorry to jump in on your thread but was just wondering, as your talking brown paper, do you think it would look ok if I was to get my wee girl to paint stamp (using potatoes or something similar) onto the brown paper obviously before wrapping?
Not only printing, emactatty, you could do some decoupage with her. I have bought some traditonal picture decoupage from Cox & Cox, where I get my ribbon from, but, another idea would be to use either old Chrismas cards or a sheet of wrapping paper with Christmas pictures, cut them out individually and paste them, carefully, onto the brown wrapping paper. Or you could get her to draw some freehand Christmas pictures and cut these out for a really cute effect. The list is endless.
I am sure you will enjoy doing that with your daughter. Oh yes, and I am sure you have thought of making paper chains etc. with her. Again, you can buy the ready cut strips from the place I mentioned above or just cut up some wrapping paper or crepe paper. Great fun.0 -

I did gingham last year but I stole my idea off a friend who wrapped hers with a rich green (about an inch thick) which looked lovely. I'm going to attempt to wrap my hampers with brown paper this year and the ribbon I use will depend on what I can find in the ribbon drawer! I have saved all the ribbons from those Primark £2 throws (if anyone snapped those up!) so it'll be a mix and match job!House saving Targets:

Agree with Twinny99, would love to see some links.
I was thinking of brown paper, with a deep purple bow (pull bows from ebay) and a brown luggage label with matching purple ribbon (as whitesatin suggests) decorated with a spring of holly.
Or maybe I'll stick with the traditional red/green bows.
Love the 'noel' ribbon too, but my idea to use the brown paper (I have a huge extra extra extra wide roll of the stuff) was to save money. . .all these fancy ideas will probably cost me more than if I'd have stuck with the usual boots wrapping paper, curling ribbon & bumper bag of bows - lol (but I'm sure they'll look fab!)0 -

It all sounds so nice, I am sure the presents and presentation will be appreciated. I know what you mean about the price of that ribbon. Truth is, I've been after it for years and couldn't quite bring myself to buy it but, this year, I have done some extra work so have some spare cast (rare). It can also be used to string up Christmas cards so, I can see me hanging onto it for myself rather than use it for the presents. Can you imagine throwing out a length of that stuff, at that cost, if you didn't appreciate how much it cost!
I have hunted high and low to find a cheaper version but can't, so far.0 -
Hi,
I brought some gingham & some tartan ribbon from Au Natural. It was £1.50 for about 3m and they have it on 3 for 2. They also have christmassy wrapping tissue (in green, red & gold) curling ribbons and pretty boxes which are all also on the 3 for 2 offer.
The cheapest place i've seen candy canes is B&M, they also do little gingerbread men and gingerbread house which are really sweet0
