How heavy was the missing item (roughly)? It might not have enough impact on the weight to tell the difference between whether it was in the package or not (if they are weighing to the nearest kilo or half kilo for the courier). How expensive was it?

If the box wasn't big enough to have the missing item, then your photos/dimensions should be useful but hopefully it will get sorted without too much messing about.

Thats the thing - the item was only £17. (Ebuyer quick find code - 54154).

The box was the same width and depth as a DVD recorder (OEM - no packaging) and around 3 times the height of the DVD recorder.

The missing item comes in the retail box pictured, which I think wouldn't fit in the box. Not sure of the weight (box would include the graphics card, cd and manual I think).

    Will keep you all updated

    Cheers

Ok - an update on this.

    I sent them an enote (their support ticket system), stating that I will contact trading standards etc if there isn't a satisfactory outcome. Their response;
We have completed our checks, and are satisfied that the item(s) reported as missing was not shipped to yourself. We apologise for this error but are unable to send as stock is currently unavailable. A refund has therefore been issued.

You have been issued a free shipping token* to cover the cost of carriage on a replacement order.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for any annoyance and disappointment caused by this situation.

Oh well - looks like I'll have to find it somewhere else then.

    Cheers for everyones advice,

At least you have your money back....which is a good start.

  • Yes it's good that you got your money back. If you order anything else from them then the free shipping token may be useful but this order may have completely put you off them. I've actually ordered from them a few times and not had any problems. Perhaps I've been lucky.

It's unusual for a company to admit to having caused "annoyance". Disappointment and inconvenience are often mentioned as possibles but here disappointment and annoyance are actually being admittd to.

It's a good thing you persisted. Their initial response to you about checking weights and being satisfied that you were sent the item was shockingly bad. Although it doesn't always have the desired effect, it does look like your threat to refer the matter to Trading Standards was the clincher.

Yep totally agree. Think it was a reply bad first reply from them - with threats etc.

Not sure if I'd use them again. Probably will, if their price is cheaper than somewhere else and will only order one item at a time so that no items can go missing!!

  • Just having a similar experience. Ordered a digital camera bundle from them was meant to come with a free memory card, battery and charger. Order confirmation e-mail from them stated these items. Parcel arrived and the free items were not in the parcel. Used their enotes to email them and they replied today saying I hadn't ordered the bundle even though it states these items on my order confirmation from them. They suggested I return the camera to them so that I could reorder the bundle. I've sent them a copy of my confirmation email and I'm just waiting hear back from them again.

Thought I would relay an ebuyer experience ....

Todate - I've used them without any issues, placing over 20 orders all delivered sucessfully, the odd one a day late but all the same they arrived. They've been ok at accepting back faulty products but one major issue they seam to have centers around their customer support number (it just rings then goes dead after around 6 mins) .... not too good .... I would give them an overall rating of 6 to 7 out of 10.

BUT .... my father placed an order last week - for three items .... nothings turned up .... four days after the stated delivery date - he's sent enotes - but no reply and no reply on the customer help line !! ( sofar 0/10 )

I've spent hundreds of pounds on eBuyer, only ever had one problem with a product which was dealt with without trouble.

Weird! I've used Ebuyer for ages and spent a small fortune with them. Everything has gone like clockwork and, when things have broke, they've replaced/refunded without a quibble. Like star1 nad Darksun, I like eBuyer, my first choice of supplier. - especially when my 120 GB ext HD packed up after 10 months with my laptop - the refund paid for a 250 GB replacement - from eBuyer of course.

    Just a contented customer here...
