Mine is constantly screaming at me! its gradually gone up ion 4 years from £10 a week to almost £30!0

mine was £9, now it's £13. I've just worked out that if I use the slow cooker (135Watts) instead of my oven (2060 watts) I would save over 4 times the electric when cooking.0

I'm doing the bulk of my washing at the weekends when its cheaper (we're on Powershift)
During the week my average daily electric use is about £2.70-£3.00. Thats doing one load of washing and the usual daily routine stuff. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 kids (3 bed Semi)
On Saturday my Washing Machine and Tumble dryer were on almost non stop all (stripped the beds, towels etc)and I only used £3.89
I'm also using the slowcooker and George Foreman grill a lot more to avoid putting the oven on as much.
Our weekly electric has gone from about £17 to about £21/22 per week.
Not too much but I think thats partly to do with changing to Powershift and also being much more careful than before. How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -

Is it getting worse again for anyone?? I'm going to refuse to put our Christmas lights on...we've gone through £30 in just under 2weeks!!! £30 used to do us over a month!!
I've been trying to money save by cooking alot more foods from scratch and making my own biscuits and cakes but think it's a false economy since I'm using so much more electric!
Are the prices ever going to go down again???0 -

Just to point out another BIG consumer of electricity.... Electric showers... some of these can be 8 or 9kw (Equivalent to 3 tumble dryers) so for example, if you have the shower on for 10 minutes and there are say 3 of you showering each morning, that would be equivalent to the tumble dryer running flat out for 1 1/2 hours....so if your using an Electric shower may i suggest sharing (grrrrrrrrrrrrrr) or at leat turning it of while your scrubbing your nether regions:rotfl:Live, Love & Laugh A Lot!0

I didn't realise that - showering is always pushed as the environmentally friendly alternative to a bath!Norn Iron Club member 273:beer:0 -
